Alan's work to date straddles the boundaries of contemporary craft, sculpture and architecture and has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. Alan currently works from his studio in County Laois, imagining and creating one of a kind and speculative piece’s for both public and private clients. Completed project’s include; one of a kind furniture, public space design, and a collection of sculptural wood-turned vessels.
Alan Meredith Studio is a multi award winning Internationally acclaimed furniture designer and maker. Alan is the Laois winner of Ireland's Best Young Entrepreneur 2016 and DCCOI - Future Maker of the year 2017. Recent Awards include; The RDS Craft Awards 2018, and RIAI Public Space award 2018 with A2 Architects. Alan's work was part of the RHA 187th Annual Exhibition and won the Tresor-Discovery Award at Tresor Contemporary Craft 2017 in Basel, Switzerland. Alan's work was shown by Design Ireland at Maison et Objet Paris, January 18-22, 2019 and forms part of ''Surface Matters'' - Portfolio Critical Selection 2019-2020, The Coach House, Dublin Castle, 22nd February - 19th May 2019. Alan Meredith Studio will show his latest steam bent and sculpted furniture alongside turned and sculptural vessels. These pieces aim to explore the structural, aesthetic and surface properties of solid wood. Each piece is unique while being within a body of work which develops and responds to what we are learning as we work the wood in new and exciting ways. This body of work consists of Tables, Shelves, Vessels and a New Cabinet which will be revealed for the first time at House 2019.
