Richard Sloan, MD of SONAS explains: “People regularly tell us they want to recreate the look of a bathroom in a hotel they stayed in and loved, or that they really want to have that spa-like look at home. Bathrooms are no longer just functional, they’re havens at the end of a long day and Mother’s Day is the perfect time to create a lovely atmosphere in the bathroom. There are simple tricks that you can do that don’t have to cost a fortune.”
Top Tip No. 2:
If you've got room for a bath, make it a showstopper
From traditional freestanding to modern versions and even a black freestanding bath, you’ll really feel like you're spoiling yourself when sinking into a beautiful tub. If you want to replicate the jacuzzi feel at home, opt for a Whirlpool bath. These are extra deep, double-ended baths which come in a range of different lengths.
Top Tip No. 4:
Proper lighting in the bathroom is key to creating a relaxing atmosphere
Whether it's hanging a fabulous chandelier, or simply installing a dimmer switch, the lighting in your bathroom can work wonders for creating a spa-like atmosphere in your home. If you don’t want to go to the trouble of changing a light fixture, get some candles. Burning some essential oils or scented candles truly creates a feast for the senses and a haven of relaxation.
Top Tip No. 5:
A spa experience isn't complete without some soft music playing in the background
There’s so much choice now for shower speakers or waterproof radios to allow your mum to sit back and relax in a luxurious bubble bath. Bath oil, bath bombs and aromatherapy oils will really make her feel special.
Top Tip No. 7:
Replace your traditional radiator with a gorgeous heated towel rail for a swanky hotel bathroom look
Who doesn’t love fluffy, warm towels?
Top Tip No. 8:
Add some plants or flowers
Fresh blooms and plants add a splash of colour and greenery into the bathroom and go a long way into breathing life, energy and serenity into the room. Your mum deserves something pretty to look at while she’s relaxing in the bath, plants and flowers do the trick.
