Jin Yong is a Chinese artist who is based in Ireland since 2002. When he was about five years old, he became interested in art and began taking lessons from a private teacher. He studied for four years in Art and Design in Changchun City, which has a population of seven millions. After moving to Shanghai city, he got his first work experience as a graphic designer and design editor for ‘Good Morning Shanghai’, one of the biggest Korean magazine publishing company. Jin Yong is always eager to help other people to improve their art skills, through teaching and mentoring. He taught about 30 students during his 6-week exhibition in Nutgrove shopping centre. This free art classes he did for Tallaght cancer support group, which he supported over 6 years through his art exhibitions. He also had watercolour workshop in Gallery of photography in Temple Bar in 2014 organized by Dublin City Council and Gallery of photography during Chinese New Year celebration.
He had 15 solo exhibitions in Ireland and a number of group exhibitions. He is one of very few Asian full-time visual artists based in Ireland, To date, over 500 paintings of his artwork have been collected by individuals and organizations globally.
In 2016, he was nominated for Chinese Professional Achievement Award by Association of Chinese Professionals in Ireland.
In 2017, he was invited as one of the three ambassador to promote Dublin Chinese New Year celebration with ‘Irish Icons’ exhibition at Kildare Village opened by Chinese ambassador Dr.Yue XiaoYong. In 2018, he won Chinese Professional Achievement Award by Association of Chinese Professionals in Ireland represented by H.E.Dr. Yue Xiaoyong, Chinese Ambassador to Ireland
